Professor Ian Tracey is Organist Titulaire at Liverpool Cathedral and also Organist to the City of Liverpool. He is no stranger to GMC, having entertained us on numerous occasions before with his inimitable brand of consummate musicianship & amusing anecdotes.

Crispian Steele-Perkins is one of the world’s best known trumpet soloists, renowned for the quality of his performances and his wide-ranging musical experience.

Together with GMC’s famous trumpet stop they are sure to produce an amazing sound!

Part of our ground floor will be filled with some wonderful stalls, whilst other textiles will be spread throughout the shop.

So, if fabric is your ‘thing’ then come along, and tell your friends!

Litter Free Coast and Sea will be launching several initiatives from their Swanage campaign ‘Love our beach’ at this event with additional information and interactive model.

Celebrating the wonderful local environment of Swanage, the event will bring together groups and organisations working locally. There will be information and opportunities for Swanage residents to find out how to get involved in looking after their environment and also discovering more ways to enjoy it!

SPOOKY HALLOWEEN MAIZE MAZE AT THE TOY BARN IN SHERBORNE…

Come for a spooky Halloween outing and explore our giant Maize Maze. Choose your path wisely to reach the creepy turret at the centre of the maze, or face re-tracing your steps to find the correct route. Getting lost has never been so SCARY!

Once you’ve explored the huge maze, your children can have fun on our play equipment or try their luck around the track on our famous pedal-powered go karts.

*Please note that there is NO cafe on site so please bring a picnic and refreshments*

The Maize Maze is open Saturday 20th October to Wednesday 31st October from 10am to 5pm.  We are closed on Sundays. Last entry to the maze is at 3.30pm.

Halloween Maize Maze Day Ticket:

£6 per person (under 3s free)
£20 for a 4 person Family group ticket – must include 1 adult
£4.80 for an extra person on the group ticket

Please Note:

As a working farm, we may occasionally have to close the attraction. Please check our Facebook or Twitter pages before planning your visit to confirm opening days/times.

Some walkways in the maze are narrow therefore wheelchairs and pushchairs are not recommended due to the uneven and soft ground.

It is advisable to wear stout footwear. If it is wet conditions wellingtons are advised.

Dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead at all time.

Ticket includes: Reptile Ranch, Pumpkin Carving and free Carving Kit and Spooky Maize Maze

Join us on 27th October if you are brave enough and get up close and personal with snakes, iguanas, lizards and other creepy crawlies presented by The Reptile Ranch. There will be three demonstrations during the day at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm which last about 30 to 40 minutes. Please specify which session you will take part in when booking your tickets.

Explore our giant Spooky Maize Maze, enjoy getting lost and finding all the ghoulish figures! Please also allow 45 minutes to 1 hour to go around the maize maze.

The ticket also includes a pumpkin sourced from Sherborne Market Fruit and Veg and a free carving kit. We look forward to seeing who can carve the spookiest pumpkin! (Please note that children under 4 years old will not receive a pumpkin or carving kit but will be able to participate in all the other activities. However the adults will be receiving a pumpkin and carving kit so that you can do this will your children!)

Doodles Play Cafe will be serving hot drinks, snacks and treats on Saturday 27th October.

There will also be face painting (additional cost applies) and children can come in fancy dress if they want.

Families will also be able to enjoy play time on our climbing frames, swings, trampolines and Wendy houses. Or race on our famous pedal powered go-kart track!

Recommended Age is 4 years +.

  • All tickets to be collected at the door on arrival.
  • At least 1 adult must accompany children.

  • We can not guarantee space if you arrive at the Toy Barn without a ticket.
  • Pumpkins and carving kits are guaranteed to advance ticket holders only and whilst stocks last to those who buy tickets at the door on the day.
  • Pumpkins and carving kits will not be issued to any children under 4 years of age (but adults will have a pumpkin and a carving kit !)
  • Last entrance to the Maize Maze will be at 4pm. Please make sure you allow enough time so that you do not miss the reptile demonstration.

This year’s Festival will run from Saturday 16 – Wednesday 20 June with a jam-packed programme of opportunities to find out about BU’s exciting research and expertise, and have fun learning something new.

 

This year’s guest speaker is the fantastic author and broadcaster Professor Alice Roberts who will be giving two talks at our Festival family day about the species that shaped our world.

 

Science showman Ian B. Dunne will close the Festival with two performances of his Magic Science…Science Magic show that are sure to leave the whole family in stitches.

A must-see event for anybody interested in the diversity of small plants, this competitive show is full of surprises. It is run by the Alpine Garden Society, show-casing mountain plants, small herbaceous plants, dwarf shrubs and bulbs. The plant fair will be attended by specialist alpine and non-alpine nurseries bringing plants suitable for most sites: Aberconwy Nursery (Colwyn Bay, Clwyd), Copton Ash (Faversham, Kent), Hartside Nursery (Alston, Cumbria), Kevin Hughes Plants (Middle Woodford, Wilts), Leesa’s Alpines (Birdham, Chichester), Marina Plants (Lymington, Hants), Parham Bungalow Plants (Market Lavington, Devizes), Potterton’s Nursery (Nettleton, Lincs), Tale Valley Nursery (Cullompton, Devon), The Mead Nursery (Brokerswood, Wilts), Thuya Alpine Nursery (Hartpury, Glos). They will be happy to take orders in advance and bring plants for you as well as giving cultivation advice. There is a Plant Forum to give you ideas, photographic display and opportunity for plant photography.  Come early for the plant sales and enjoy our home-baked cakes, hot and cold drinks and light lunches.  Admission £3.00, AGS members and children free.  Free parking.

The fair will feature 60 stalls by local design-makers, vintage sellers and craft suppliers. There will be something for everyone and every budget. This is a fantastic way to buy some unique products and gifts whilst supporting local independent artists, artisans and sellers.

Join us for the first event in Hamworthy Park on 21st & ‪22nd July, where you will be able to enjoy the tastes of locally produced food and drink whilst listening to talented resident musicians. With plenty to keep the whole family entertained, including children’s activities, we’ve got you sorted for something to kick start the summer!

The festivities continue during the August bank holiday weekend, where Shelley Park will be transformed into a hub of local culture. Taking place ‪on Sunday 26th & ‪Monday 27th August, this will be the perfect way to round off the summer break!

These two brilliant events will be helping raise funds for local causes including Friends of Hamworthy Park and Dorset’s Children’s Foundation.
