Join our Lord of Misrule on a journey through the romantic ruins. Find out about the rich history of Tudor traditions and maybe participate in a play or a game or two. During the reign of Elizabeth I, Christmas was a mixed affair with traditions travelling back to the middle ages. In Tudor times the rich and poor might find themselves at the same festivities. A time when a commoner might rule for a day and a lord wait upon them. 10am – 4pm on Sun 10 – Thur 14, Sun 17, Thu 21, Sun 31 December. The castle will be open until 7pm for Winter Lights on Sat 9, Fri 15, Sat 16, Mon 18 – Wed 20, Fri 22 – Sat 23 & Wed 27 – Sat 30 December.
This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.
