Morcombelake, Bridport, Dorset DT6 6EA

Kay and Julian would like to welcome you to Halsons Bed and Breakfast, located in Morcombelake, a small village close to the Jurassic coastline, between the market town of Bridport and the seaside town of Lyme Regis.
Halsons was built in the 1800s and was built mainly of flint; it stands in the centre of its own walled garden. It stands in an elevated position which allows fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

Halsons Bed and Breakfast, although easily accessible from the A35, is tucked away down a small country lane. The house sits in its own walled garden and due to its elevated position has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside including Golden Cap. Hardown Hill, the parent peak of Golden Cap, is directly behind us. We have three rooms, two large doubles and a twin. All the rooms have been recently renovated, including new modern bathrooms with walk in showers. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TVs with free view channels, and a DAB radio alarm clock. As well as the large airy dining room there is a shared lounge for guest use and a patio which leads off of both the dining room and lounge. Guests have the option of eating their breakfast outside on the patio on warm days. On cooler days there is a wood burning stove in the lounge. There is free Wi-Fi and free parking.

We serve a full English breakfast as well as a selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and breads and tea and coffee.

We are surrounded by walking routes and bridle ways and are within walking distance of Golden Cap and the Jurassic Coast. The local bus stop is a 2-3 minute walk away with buses to Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth in one direction and Lyme Regis, Axminster and Exeter in the other. Axminster train station is a 10 minute drive away with regular trains to London Waterloo and Exeter.

From sunny perennial meadows to prairie style and tough easy-care, green lawn substitutes, Knoll’s 4-acre garden provides an abundance of practical planting ideas in an inspirational and relaxing environment.

A mini-arboretum of rare and unusual trees and shrubs frame an abundance of grasses and flowering perennials and anyone looking to bring nature into their own garden will find themselves spoilt for ideas.

Knoll’s owner, Neil Lucas is the UK’s leading authority on ornamental grasses. Best-selling author, RHS Council Member and Senior Judge, his guiding principles are key to the garden’s continuing evolution. Knoll’s Mediterranean-style gravel garden and the Sunny Meadow, adapted from a traditional English meadow to suit smaller English gardens, feature regularly in the national press. A new sedge meadow  showcases the pure effects of soft green foliage taking its inspiration from the Californian style.
A varied event programme includes walks, workshops, plant fairs and masterclasses and Knoll’s Chelsea Gold Medal-winning nursery sells many of the plants found within the garden.

Mount Pleasant Farm is a timeless piece of English countryside featuring a farm that is very much in-the-moment. You are insulated from the stresses of modern life and just half an hour from Dorset beaches. Families love the setting of the tents as the children can play and roam freely and safely within sight and earshot of parents.

The farm larder stocks the Mount Pleasant’s own succulent bacon, sausages, steaks and burgers, plus local milk, cheese, butter and juices – wonderful camping barbecue food! The surrounding fields are home to the flock of sheep as well as the wildlife of the area including deer, owls and foxes, perfect for your Dorset glamping farm holiday.

The market town Blandford Forum is just 25 minutes away, with lovely villages on the way and Crazy Monsters indoor soft play centre to be found there also. For a trip further afield, Corfe Castle, Wardour Castle and Purbeck Heritage Coast are all within 25 miles.

Glamping is an abbreviation of the term ‘glamorous camping’. With the Feather Down Glamping concept, you experience the cosy feeling of camping, while enjoying the luxury of a cottage.

106 Commercial Road, Bournemouth, Dorset BH2 5LR

Ojo Rojo is a 2 floor venue offering unique experiences with Mexican street-food inspired dishes, and a drinks menu which specialises (not exclusively) in Agave spirits such as Mezcal and Tequila. Each area of the venue is customised in order for you to receive the experience you wish. Keep reading to choose your favourite spot.

We have created a venue that can cater for a variety of preferences and desires. Quite often restaurants that create a healthy menu do not embrace the other enjoyments in life such as alcohol, thinking it as a contradiction. We at Ojo Rojo, instead, celebrate it as a dichotomy. People who like to be healthy, can still enjoy a night out or a splash of their preferred alcohol without being judged. Our Bournemouth venue is designed to embrace this, combining a good night out with healthy eating alternative. This means when you are out on the town, your night can continue with us while you get tasty, healthy food, in an environment that doesn’t feel like you have had to put your drinking on hold

THE CANOPY
Our more traditionally seated space, The Canopy is our first floor restaurant – so named for its overhead installation. It is a calm, romantic experience designed to allow you to fully appreciate the unique and passion filled food we offer. Whether you are on a date, entertaining loved ones or fancy the quiet side of our eating experience, you owe it to yourself to dine on the top floor of Ojo Rojo.

THE GALLERY
The Gallery is a relaxed, casual dining experience that incorporates the hustle/bustle of a drinking establishment with great food and comfortable surroundings. It is located on our ground floor and is sub street level, making this a truly unique eating experience. This atmosphere is perfect for pre drinkers, casual diners, daytime cafe-goers or evening diners who wish to be surrounded by the more vivacious night-life environment. The Gallery serves the same food as upstairs but with a little more noise and a lot more spontaneity. Partnered with our Mezcalaria, it contains all you could want for a night out on the town.

THE MEZCALERIA
The only Mezcal Bar in Bournemouth, The Mezcaleria specialises in your Agave needs. With over 100 great Mezcal and Tequilas and a cocktail menu designed to introduce you to experimental ways to experience this fine, tasty spirit, you would be mad not to start your evening here. Mezcal (and in turn, Tequila) is a very misunderstood drink, often ruined by the cheap variations we try as we are growing up. The Mezcaleria wants to change this and introduce you to the exciting and non-hangover world of Mezcal. But, if it really isn’t your thing, don’t fret, we have plenty of other drinks for you to enjoy.
