A partly wooded golf course with wonderful views over the Purbeck Hills and Poole Harbour. 18 holes, 5753 yards, SSS 68. Visitors are welcome after 9.30am on weekdays and after 1pm at weekends. A golf handicap certificate is required.

Bere Regis, Wareham, Dorset BH20 7NT

There are two golf courses. Lakeland Course: 18 holes, 7027 yards, SSS 75, par 72. Woodland Course: 2 x nine holes, 4887 yards, SSS 64, par 69. Driving range. Visitors are welcome anytime with a prior tee reservation.

The Clubhouse, Verwood, Dorset BH31 7LE

This golf course is set on parkland which surrounds lakes and the River Crane. 18 holes, 6400 yards, SSS 71. Nine-hole woodland course, 2100 yards. Covered driving range. Visitors are welcome by arrangement but a golf handicap is necessary.

Studland, Swanage, Dorset BH19 3AB

Two heath land golf courses with wonderful views. Purbeck: 18 holes, 6248 yards, SSS 71. Dene: nine holes, 2022 yards, SSS 30. Visitors are welcome and buggies are available.

South Perrott, Dorset DT8 3HU

This golf course was described by Fore Golf Magazine as “one of the prettiest courses in England”, with eight of its 18 holes in Somerset and 10 in Dorset. It is suitable for golfers of all standards and is very picturesque. 18 holes, 5924 yards, SSS 70. There is also a par 3 nine-hole course. Visitors are welcome but there are dress restrictions. Golf buggies, golf trolleys, golf shoes and golf clubs are available for hire.

Higher Clatcombe, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 4RN

The golf course is on parkland with extensive views. 18 holes, 5882 yards, SSS 68. Practice ground. Visitors should telephone in advance and a golf handicap certificate is required. Thursday is Ladies’ Day.

Motcombe Park, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 9QA

The golf course is set in wooded parkland with a mock Tudor mansion overlooking the course. Nine holes, 1354 yards, SSS 54 (18 holes). Players must either be members or guests of members.

Bulbury Lane, Lytchett Minster, Near Poole, Dorset BH16 6EP

This is a superb woodland golf course with excellent panoramic views across Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills. 18 holes, 6003 yards, par 71. Practice ground. Visiting times are variable and subject to availability.

49a Links Road, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset BH14 9QS

A wooded heathland golf course with 18 holes, 6250 yards, SSS 70. Visitors should book in advance and must have a golf handicap certificate. There is also a golf shop on-site selling golf equipment.

Timber Hill, Lyme Regis, Dorset DT7 3HQ

A cliff top golf course, which is not hilly, with fine coastal views. 18 holes, 6283 yards. SSS 70. Visitors are welcome after 9.30am on most weekdays and Saturdays, after 2.15pm on Thursdays and after midday on Sundays. A golf handicap certificate or proof of membership of a recognised golf club is required.

119 Golf Links Road, Ferndown, Dorset BH22 8BU

This golf course is on wooded heathland with 18 holes, 6452 yards, SSS 71; nine holes, 5604 yards, SSS 68. Practice ground. Visitors are welcome but prior permission is recommended. A handicap certificate is required from a recognised golf club.

Forest Links Road, Ferndown, Dorset BH22 9QE

Flat, wooded parkland with 18 holes, 5400 yards, SSS 65. Covered floodlit driving range and a large practice putting green. Visitors are welcome at all times.

Christchurch Road, Ferndown, Dorset BH22 8ST

A parkland golf course designed by Donald Steel and featuring six lakes in beautiful Dorset countryside that rolls gently down to the River Stour. 18 holes, 6904 yards, SSS 73. Six-hole academy course driving range. Visitors are welcome at all times, and golf buggies and golf trolleys are available.

Wolfedale Golf Course, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 7SG

A parkland golf course with 18 holes, 5467 yards, SSS 67. Six-hole practice area. Visitors are welcome anytime, although Sundays are mainly competition days.

Came Down, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8NR

This golf course is located on chalk downs with excellent drainage and magnificent views. It has 18 holes, 6224 yards, SSS 71. Practice area and nets. Visitors are welcome without a reservation, except on Sunday mornings, but they must have handicap certificate. There is also a golf shop on-site selling golf equipment.
